this game is absolutely wonderful, if my partner and I ever have a daughter Cute Knight Kingdom is gonna be conspicuously pre-installed in any computer in the house.
from a gamedev standpoint, it's both mechanically really well-balanced and fun to play (the working/studying minigame is simple but really effective, and a great application of RPG mechanics to non-violent gameplay, which is an interest of mine) AND resonates with the core theme of being able to become whatever you choose as a young woman.
I, personally, am just now entering my thirties, but I find myself very inspired by Sorami's many possible journeys, and by Hanako Games's vision and courage to finish this, one of their earlier games.
all in all, Cute Knight Kingdom is an easy recommendation for me! for anyone, of course, but especially for women and girls, of course
Despite how old the game is, this is my first time playing it! I believe this was inspired by the Princess Maker series. I prefer this over that, which I didn't think was possible. CKK is a more feminist, independent version, which makes me care a lot more about the protagonist. I was so attached that I took a certain bad ending from fighting a horrifically difficult boss a bit personally, as though I failed Sorami.
Just as a note-this game does not play nice with multi-monitor setups and will need to play windowed. Definitely worth the 5$ though!
good game and the art is pretty good :) i like it
is there an ending with gordy? and how do i achieve the new endings?
There isn't an ending that has anything to do with Gordy, but both versions of the "origin" endings where Sorami discovers where she actually comes from ("Star Princess" and "Wanderer") do reveal more about Gordy and his family, specifically what happened to his mother.
I remember playing this game way back when. Happy to get a chance to play this again!
